WONDER WOMAN WEEKEND . . . A Woman Knows Things!
In the ancient days, the wise grandmothers would take the young girls away from the village to teach them all that they needed to know about themselves and their lives. Every tribe, clan, village and community honored and revered the wisdom of the grandmothers. The people, men and women, knew that these grandmothers knew that becoming and being a woman is a sacred affair, not an event. They understood that becoming a woman takes time. The young girls knew that what they would learn from the grandmothers was necessary. They also knew that it was secret. Over time, a woman’s learning process changed. Today, women learn, on the job, often without the nurturing wisdom of their grandmothers. Time on the job is still a vital requirement, but the woman’s learning process remains a sacred event. Although many of the secrets are not taught today, make no mistake, the secrets are not lost. The sacred secrets of being a woman are etched in the soul of every woman. It is the duty of every woman to excavate the secrets of the soul and live them with grace.
When a woman doesn’t know who she is and what she knows, she mistakenly believes that other people know more than she knows. In fact, she is prone to believe that they know what she needs to know. Sometimes they do. More often, however, they do not. A woman always knows what she needs to know. Unfortunately, her knowing is often buried beneath a thought, feeling, habit, perception, facade, situation, or the simple unwillingness to acknowledge herself, her power and, therein, her knowing. When a woman is not willing to admit that she knows what she knows, she will attract people who are willing to support her in remaining ignorant so, that she can be used, manipulated, betrayed, dishonored, and left bleeding at the side of the road. More important, when a woman doesn’t believe that she knows, she will create situations and circumstances to prove how dumb, helpless, dysfunctional, broken, battered, wounded, hopeless, and stupid she believes she is. Of course, this behavior is not a conscious activity. It is habitual. It is a conditioned response. It is the basis of the pain in nearly every woman’s heart. It is a function of refusing to know.
Since 1994, women have come together for the Wonder Woman Weekend (WWW) to excavate the secrets buried in the core of their souls. Some come because they are experiencing mental or emotional pain. Others come because their lives are not progressing. Some women don’t know why they come until they get in the room and experience the loving, powerful energy of the space. The truth is every woman who has ever attended the WWW has done so because she is willing and ready to heal some part of her mind, her heart or her soul. Women come from across the globe and around the country because they are in search of their truth, power, authentic self-expression; their voice, their gift or a deeper meaning for their lives. The women who attend the WWW are women on the verge of a breakdown and a breakthrough. And, they are ready to boldly step into new futures.
There is no way to convince a woman that she is ready for the experience of the WWW. Those who know, come. Those who hear the call, or feel the pull, do whatever is required to get into the room. One woman saved for 2 years. She then attended 3 times. Another woman sold her arts and crafts. She raised the money in 3 weeks. Another woman, depressed after the suicide of her husband, came because a friend brought her. She is now a graduate of the Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development Personal Development and Ministerial Training and Ordination Programs and volunteers at the weekend classes. Whoever you are, wherever you are, regardless of the circumstances of your life today, if you are reading this and you hear the call or feel the pull, make a commitment to get into the room. Then, watch how the universe aligns itself to make your dreams a reality. If you are a woman who is ready to heal – – – if you are willing to do what is required to grow – – – if you know there is more for you to be, do and have in your life – – – start packing!
